'Why I'm in Anambra Central senatorial race'

The Anambra Central senatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) Helen Mbakwe has explained why she is in the race.

She said since the country is talking about a new Nigeria, current members of the National Assembly should give way to new ones.

She said she had already planned new things to bring on board at the National Assembly if elected, of which, one of them is to work well with the next President.

Mbakwe, a lawyer, told The Nation in Anambra that people like Senators, Uche Ekwunife and Victor Umeh among others should go and rest for others to come in.

Mbakwe is contesting the position against formidable political opponents like Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Umeh of Labour Party (LP) and Ekwunife of People's Democratic Party (PDP).

According to her: 'Since we are planning for a new President in Nigeria, we should equally, plan to put in new lawmakers that can work well...
