Sponsorship: Waheed Ekun canvasses tax rebate to expand table tennis

Doyen of table tennis in Nigeria, Chief Waheed Ekun, has canvassed tax rebates for willing blue-chip companies in order to facilitate huge sponsorship for Ping-Pong in the country.

The Agba Akin Maiyegun of Ibadan who was the first National Sports Festival champion in 1973, said table tennis can be deepened with huge sponsorships , adding there are great potentialities in the country that are begging to be tapped.

Recalling his humble beginning in the sport yesterday on popular Yoruba Sports Programme , Oba Ori Odan ( King of the Pitch) on Miliki FM with veteran broadcaster Yomi Opakunle , Ekun gave kudos to organisers of the long-running Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis Championship but insisted that Corporate Nigeria should be encouraged to give more fillip to the sport.
