Sacked Ekiti PDP chairman dares NWC, rejects excos' dissolution

The acting chairman of the sacked State Executive Committee (SEC) of Ekiti chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Lanre Omolase has kicked against the dissolution of the SEC.

Omolase declared that National Working Committee(NWC) of the PDP lacked the power to sack party executives duly elected by delegates at the congress.

The National leadership of the party in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba on Friday dissolved the State Executive committee and constituted a caretaker committee led by Arch. Sodiq Obanoyen to run the affairs of the party for a period of three months

But, Omolase in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday declared that he remained the chairman of the party, stressing that the setting up of a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party in the state was not only illegal but also premature.

He noted that the purported dissolution of the excos was misleading and should be disregarded by PDP members, adding that it was unsavoury and contemptous for the NWC to take action on subsisting order of the court.

Omolase described the dissolution as a complete nullity and exercise in futility, adding that court had ruled that status quo should remain on the chairmanship position until final determination of a suit before it.

He said: 'I want to say, proclaim and declare that I am still the Acting Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti and only the court of law can say otherwise.

'My position as the Acting Chairman is as dictated by a court of competent jurisdiction, and the court order is still subsisting.
