Residents beg Akeredolu to lift curfew on Ondo community

The 24-hour curfew imposed on Ikare-Akoko in Akoko Northeast Local Government has started taking its toll on residents.

The people have cried out to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to lift the curfew, which has entered the sixth day.

The governor imposed the curfew after a communal clash led to killing of five persons, burning of six vehicles, buildings and looting of shops.

The residents said they wanted to continue their normal life.

Heavy security presence was noticed in the community when our reporter visited the place.

It was observed that security personnel only allow those with medical condition to seek medical attention.

Schools have resumed new academic session in Ondo State, but schools in Ikare-Akoko are shut due to the curfew.
