Obaseki okays over N1.5b to clear pension arrears

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has approved over N1.5 billion to clear the backlog owed 1,559 pensioners of the 18 local governments, which accumulated since 1986.

The Permanent Secretary/Chairman, Local Government Pensions Bureau, Washington Abbe, said yesterday that the affected pensioners were requested to bring their documents to the Local Government Pensions Bureau on or before January 27.
