It was quite an exhilarating moment when some Nollywood actors under the aegis of Connecting Grassroots Initiative (CGI) and some residents of Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos State at the weekend rallied for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima.

They also canvassed support for Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Femi Hamzat.

Some of the Nollywood stars at the rally were Bimbo Akintola, Damola Olatunji, Doyin Kukoya and others.

Placards, banners, fliers, Tee shirts and caps bearing the faces of Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Shettima and Babajide Sanwo Olu / Hamzat made a colorful scenery.

People gyrated to the blasts of music from the speakers as the singing vans passed through the excited supporters.

The CGI initiative was formed to spread the news of the APC candidates across board especially at grassroots level.

The Nollywood stars urged residents to pick up their Permanent Voters' Card (PVCs) to allay fears of disenfranchisement.

Actor and member CGI media team, Damola Olatunji, said: 'We are a group of entertainers that are concerned and passionate about Nigeria and her economic situation. We sat down and said to ourselves, let's see what we can do concerning the coming elections so that Nigerians will not get it wrong. We scrutinized all the candidates and we picked the ones we feel and believe are the most competent with better plans for the country. That is why we support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as pertaining to the forthcoming election'.
