NHGSFP: Buhari approves additional 5m children

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the inclusion of additional five million children to the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), the Minister Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management And Social Development (FMHADMSD), Sadiya Umar Farouq has announced.

She spoke during the kick-off of the Grant for Vulnerable Groups programme (GVG), and other social investment programmes in Lagos yesterday.

Under the NHGSFP, she said 9.9 million children are currently being fed nationwide.

This brings the number of children covered to 14.9 million children.

The Minister, represented by the Director, Humanitarian Affairs, at the Ministry, Alhaji Ali Germa, said the cash grant for vulnerable groups and other Social Investment Programmes carried out by the ministry was to lift the vulnerable.

The programme, according to her, was being implemented in close partnerships with state governments.

The GVG, she explained, was introduced in 2020 to sustain the social inclusion agenda of President Buhari's Administration on the poor, which is consistent with the agenda of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty...
