Naval rating arrested over death of teenage girl in hotel

ANaval rating has been arrested for his alleged complicity in the death of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Nengi Enenimiete, whose corpse was found in the wardrobe of a hotel in Twon Brass, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the Navy Police in conjunction with the operatives of the Police and the community youths' leadership identified and arrested the unnamed Rating.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said the arrested Naval personnel was in the custody of the Nigerian Navy at Egweama in Brass and would likely be handed over to the Police for prosecution after the preliminary orderly room trial.

The corpse of the girl, Miss Nengi Enenimiete, was discovered at the Blevera Hotel in Brass in November by the manager.

The deceased's corpse, however, showed no signs of physical injuries, mutilation and strangulation.

Indigenes of the Twon-Brass community are, however, demanding an autopsy and arrest of the 'mystery' male guest with the deceased on the day of the incident.

Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
