NARTO: We lose 12 hours daily to insecurity

As a result of the security challenge in the country, road transport owners are underutilising their trucks and losing 12 productive hours daily.

Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), National President, Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman, stated this to The Nation in Abuja.

He recalled when the trucks were plying the roads round the clock, they could accomplish about six trips monthly but that peak period is now history because of banditry that has made the roads dreadful at night.

He said: 'Naturally, we face challenges because we are not optimising our vehicles. Five to 10 years ago, our trucks could do five to six trips in a month. But now they cannot.
