Lagos PDP, AA members defect to APC

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu yesterday urged Lagosians to vote for the continuation of development.

He also urged them to vote for the presidential standard-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the answer to the nation's challenges.

The governor highlighted his achievements and future plans for the state at the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Lagos West Senatorial District (11).

The district comprises lba, Oto-Awori, Badagry, Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo and Ajeromi Ifelodun councils.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Action Alliance (AA) members from Badagry Division at the rally held at the open field, opposite Federal Government College, Ijanikin, on

Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos, defected to the APC.

Accompanied by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and other party leaders, the governor enjoined the people of the division, including representatives of ethnic groups, traders' associations, artisans, peasants and youths, to sustain their support for the ruling party.

The party's candidates: Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Lagos West senatorial candidate, Lanre Ogunyemi, House of Representatives candidate for Ojo Constituency, Olatunji Surajdeen, candidate for Ojo State Constituency II and Adebisi Olusegun Ege, candidate for Ojo State Constituency I, received party flags.

The Director General of Lagos APC Campaign Council, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, expressed pleasure about the large turnout.

Delta PDP grapples with defections ahead of 2023 polls

He said: 'We have gone to many places to show the stuff we are made of. We are here in Lagos West and it's gratifying.

'The election we will be having in February is when we will elect our leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shetimma.

'On the same day, we will elect our National Assembly candidates. Two weeks after, we will elect our 'Mr. Sellable', our governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

'Likewise, we are going to elect 40 members of the House of Assembly.

'So, what remains of us is to have our permanent voter cards...
