Ikpeazu to hold council elections before exit

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has announced the intention of his administration to conduct another Local Government polls before he leaves office in May this year.

The governor made the disclosure while inaugurating new Commissioners for the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) at the Exco Chambers, Government House, Umuahia.

Our Correspondent recalls that there were indications that the state governor may appoint Transition Committee (TC) chairmen in the coming weeks to run the affairs of the state local governments until after the 2023 general elections.

Sources disclosed that there has been intense lobbying among the party members including outgone chairmen, their deputies and some of the LGA councilors as they seek appointment as TC officials of their respective LGAs.
