Afew weeks into 2023, prominent Nigerians died due to illness and other unknown causes.

The following are four prominent Nigerians who died with their names never to be forgotten:

* Peace Anyiam-Osigwe

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), died on Monday, January 9 at 53 in a Lagos hospital.

The entrepreneur had stated in her last Instagram post that she was taking a 'coffee break' before her death.

Anyiam-Osigwe was characterized as an extraordinary personality, pioneer, and one-of-a-kind creative and visionary leader in the film and television industries. She was president of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) until her death.

President Muhammadu Buhari and a number of other prominent figures released statements mourning her.

* Sunday Akinola (Baba Feyikogbon)

The death of veteran actor Sunday Akinola aka Baba Feyikogbon, was announced on Monday, January 9.

For several years before his death, the 80-year-old struggled with renal failure, hypertension and memory loss.

Akinola rose to prominence with the famous weekly Feyikogbon series, which aired on NTA Channel 7, Lagos for over 13 years throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
