FMBN, NLC commission 100-unit housing estate in Yola

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and the organised Labour led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have commissioned a 100-unit housing estate for workers in Adamawa State.

NLC President, Ayuba Waba led other labour leaders to Yola yesterday to commission the estate funded by the FMBN through an affordable workers' housing loan scheme.

Speaking during the opening of the estate located in Yola South LGA, FMBN Managing Director, Mr Madu Hamman, explained that a committed partnership between the bank and the organised Labour made the project a reality.

He explained that the 100 units of the estate comprised 40 3-bedroom bungalows, 40 2-bedroom bungalows and 20 single-room bungalows.

The houses are semi-detached, all within a large plot demarcated by a perimeter fence, complete with an internal road network, water and electricity.

The FMBN managing director observed that the estate needed a link road that is more motorable than the existing road, and urged the state government to at least construct a bridge in place of a collapsed old bridge.
