Family appeals for intervention over land tussle

The Ojomu Royal family in Lagos State has asked the President, Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the land-grabbing activities in the Eti-Osa/Chevron Estate in the state.

The family also sought the intervention of the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, in the matter.In a statement on Saturday, the family alleged that some top police officers in the state were dabbling into the matter and urged Buhari, Sanwo-Olu and the police boss to caution the said officers.

According to them, the officers are dragging the name of the IGP into the mud over land-grabbing activities.

The statement read, 'The Ojomu family said that on 18th December 2022, some policemen chased away the owners of an 8223sqm landed property, and their workers from the site while some of the workers were arrested with the claims that they were acting on directives of a first generation bank.

'The property sold to ''Mr. Ibrahim'' which was not part of what was sold to the bank belongs to the Ojomu Royal family poroku gazette which was confirmed by the Lagos State Governor, vide notice of Excision of Villages published in the official Gazette No 13, dated 29th day of August 2002, Vol. 35, signed by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the time Executive Governor of Lagos State.
