Emefiele resumes duty amid tight security

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele resumed work yesterday in his Abuja office.

But officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) increased their presence in the building, perhaps to provide additional security for him.

The Nation learnt that 'Emefiele entered the building in the afternoon followed by some DSS personnel'.

Officially, at least two DSS officials are always around him, but yesterday, a source at the CBN said about five DSS officials were seen around the apex bank's boss.

'The DSS officials did not harass anybody or storm the CBN. Don't mind them,' the official told The Nation.

A statement by CBN's Director of Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisiobi, said: 'The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has resumed duty after his annual vacation abroad.
