Akiolu assures constituents of socioeconomic growth, empowerment

Hon. Kayode Moshood Akiolu, Member, Federal House of Representatives, representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency II, has assured members of his constituency of improved standards of living and wellbeing, stressing that this is in keeping with his campaign promises.

The lawmaker gave this assurance during the donation of laptops and commissioning of fully equipped six new blocks of classrooms at the Girls Senior Academy and additional three blocks at St. Stephens School, recently, both on Lagos Island.

Akiolu, who recalled that part of his campaign promises was to adopt a welfarist approach to governance with education, Information and Communication Technology, youths and women empowerment at the core, said it was heartening to note that he has been able to achieve some modest success in that regard.

While noting that his commitment to the educational attainment of his constituents is in line with his campaign promises, he emphasised that without education no man can lead a successful life.

The prince, who said the newly built schools were part of his constituency projects, said his expectations from the teachers and students is that whatever is given to them should be judiciously used to the optimum level to enhance their ability. 'That would be an encouragement for us to go back to the national level and request for further dividends of democracy for our people. For the students, I want Lagos Island in particular to be an ICT hub, not just a place to sell ICT equipment and all. We want to have technicians, want this place to be a Silicon Valley and hub. I pray for the students that learn from the school.'
